Which applicant tracking systems do companies actually hire through?

We answer this from our own data instead of repeating an industry figure we cannot source. Meridino builds its job pool by reading company career boards directly, so we can see which applicant tracking system each posting is hosted on. Here is what that looks like, with the sample, the date, and the limits stated up front.

In short

Across the 33,958 job postings from 415 companies in Meridino's index of first-party company career boards (US-focused and tech-skewed, not a representative sample of the whole labor market), as of July 24, 2026, 52% are posted through Greenhouse, 15% Ashby, 13% Lever, 11% SmartRecruiters, and 8% Workable.

Share of postings by ATS platform

Meridino index, n = 33,958 postings across 415 companies, as of July 24, 2026
ATS platformPostingsShare of postings
Greenhouse17,63752%
Ashby5,05415%
Lever4,51013%
SmartRecruiters3,78111%
Workable2,5618%
Teamtailor4141%
BambooHR~0<1%

Shares are rounded to whole percent and sum to 100. BambooHR appears in the index but at a share that rounds to zero, shown as ~0. This is a share of postings, so a company that lists many roles counts once per posting, not once per company.

What this does and does not say

This measures the share of postings in Meridino's index, not the share of US companies and not the share of the whole labor market. Read Greenhouse's 52% as “of the postings in this index, 52% are hosted on Greenhouse,” never as “52% of US companies use Greenhouse.” No public source supports that broader claim, which is why we do not make it.

The index is US-focused and tech-skewed, not a representative sample of the whole labor market. It over-represents startups and technology employers, who tend to adopt modern cloud ATS platforms early, and it under-represents large enterprises and non-tech sectors. Enterprise-heavy systems such as Workday, Oracle Taleo, iCIMS, and SAP SuccessFactors barely appear here because Meridino reads the modern cloud-ATS boards it can index directly. Their near-absence is a property of our coverage, not evidence that those platforms are rare.

What it does say, and what makes it worth publishing: among the company career boards a candidate is realistically applying through in this segment, a handful of platforms carry almost everything, and Greenhouse alone carries about half. That is a fact about our index that we can show you the method for, rather than a market-wide statistic we would have to borrow.

Common questions

Does this mean 52% of US companies use Greenhouse?

No. It means that of the 33,958 job postings across the 415 companies in Meridino's index, 52% are hosted on Greenhouse. It is a share of postings in one index, not a share of companies and not a share of the whole US labor market. The index is US-focused and tech-skewed, so it over-represents startups and technology employers who adopt modern cloud ATS platforms early.

Why do Workday, Taleo, and iCIMS barely appear?

Because Meridino indexes the modern cloud-ATS career boards it reads directly (Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Workable, Teamtailor, BambooHR). Large enterprises often run Workday, Oracle Taleo, iCIMS, or SAP SuccessFactors, which are under-represented here. Their near-absence is a coverage property of this index, not evidence that those platforms are rare in the market.

How current are these numbers?

They are a snapshot of Meridino's index as of July 24, 2026. The page is prerendered with the figures baked in as of that date; a later refresh regenerates the snapshot rather than editing it in place, so the date on the page always matches the data on the page.
